A Spectrum of Solutions for Spectrum Challenges
SPECTRUM COACHING - (ASPERGERS, PDDNOS & ADHD)
Most people on the Spectrum have co-existing conditions such as addictions, obsessions, depression and anxiety,
Tourettes, OCD, behavior problems and other issues.
In an effort to help my clients to have the life that they want, I continue to participate in many trainings and have developed tools that really work for my clients. It is my curiosity, my commitment, and my desire to be of service to my clients on the spectrum that led me to going trainings that would address the many challenges that people on the spectrum deal with daily.
One of those issues is relationships which are very much affected by the behaviors of people on the spectrum. The same is true for other issues like addictions, like sleep disorders, etc. In an effort to serve my clients, I became expert in many techniques and solutions directed at the issues of my clients.
Some but not all of these are explained below.
The terms ADD and AD/HD refer to the same brain wiring and way of being.
In AD/HD coaching, I work with clients to empower them to manage their attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
Please see the webpage devoted to this ADHD Coaching.
ADHD is considered a part of the spectrum by many medical professionals. It is also a coexisting condition for many who have Aspergers and PDD-NOS. ADHD Coaching is done according to the individual issues of the client. It is possible to coach ADHD without even mentioning any diagnosis.
ADHD has with it varied co-existing conditions that medical professionals name as comorbidities.
I use many different modalities to work with many coexisting conditions of AD/HD. Some of those conditions are:
- differences in learning and communication
- personality disorders
- behavior disorders
- bipolar disorder
- sleep problems
- tourettes syndrome
I have extensive training in ADHD.
I am the International Coach Federation ADHD SIG Leader, a professional instructor for ADD Coach Academy and the co-founder of the Professional Association of ADHD Coaches, a certifying organization for ADHD Coaches.

THE RELATIONSHIP CHALLENGE: RELATIONSHIP COACHING FOR PEOPLE ON THE SPECTRUM
To understand and to be understood...
Our family gets more done in one session with you, Chana, than we did in nine years of psychologist visits. You make it a win-win situation. We each walk out feeling like we have accomplished something, especially with my son who is so sensitive...Thank you Chana for giving us back our son.
~ Parent of 15 year old
Positive, nurturing relationships are an integral part of who we are and how we experience life, which is why it's
such an integral part of my coaching.
Relationships are a big challenge for people who have ADHD and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Just about all of my clients have great challenges in their home, work, and play relationships. Working with my clients to have the relationships that they want has inspired me to complete all of the coursework in Relationship Coaching Institute. I was subsequently a mentor coach trainer for the Advanced Couples Courses in Relationship Coaching Institute from 2004 to 2007.
Within a month of her amazing coaching our lives changed remarkably. Thank you, Chana.
~ CEO/Family Member
I created and use strategies that have had a 100% success rate with relationships between couples, between parents
and children, between friends, business partners, and between siblings, with people who are challenged with ADD
"Relating About Relationships - What Works and What Doesn't" is a fun seminar that I designed and love presenting.
Besides the many relationship coaching strategies which I have created and been trained in, one of the tools that I use which is very effective in working with couples is Face Reading. In viewing photos of both partners in a relationship I am able to better understand how they relate to each other and why that is so.
I explain to them what their faces reveal which is one of the tools for creating understanding and the relationship that they want. It's also fun to learn about what your partner is thinking based on just a photograph!
We'll learn more about Face Reading below.
There are many other tools I use which are effective in helping people create the relationships they truly desire.
Non-Spectrum clients (NeuroTypicals) impacted by a person with ADHD or ASD-like symptoms may realize:
- How to listen and communicate more effectively with the person with ASD
- What strategies and tools they can use in supporting the ASD person
- Better understanding of the person with ASD and develop greater levels of patience and understanding
- Provide appropriate positive reinforcement and acknowledgment to change negative patterns and behavior
- How to set boundaries and manage their expectations
There's more to tell you about your specific situation.
Chana is not afraid to take on difficult and chaotic situations and skillfully moves the family toward cohesion.

FACE READING: A TOOL FOR UNDERSTANDING
I do face reading intuitively as well as scientifically, using the Five Element Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The facial structure of a person gives me a full picture of who a person is. I teach a course to other professionals on the art and science of seeing the face as a window into a person's essence. The presentation is entitled "How to use Chinese Medicine Face Reading to Determine your Client's Issues."
I've achieved proficiency assessing Personality as well as Oriental Health Assessment through Face Reading.
I hired Chana Klein, a true living angel on earth, to do a reading of my face. The first thing she asked me was why I was so stressed, which she saw in my face. I was very, confused and didn't realize how miserable my life was. She asked to see a picture of my family and saw the true nature of several of my family members. Chana agreed to work with us daily over the phone. Within a month of her amazing coaching our lives changed remarkably. Thank you, Chana.

This facilitates helping my clients more quickly by identifying many of their issues in the first session. I do this on
a phone session with photographs as well as in person.
An example of how this can work is when a medical professional hired me for phone session. He thought he had AD/HD.
Looking at his photo however, revealed to me that he does not have AD/HD. He is not distracted, impulsive or late all the time. But he does have great difficulty getting to certain tasks.
In his face I could see Kidney Energy issues which told me that he has a lot of fears. The fears, not AD/HD, were stopping him from taking actions and so our work was on that rather than on AD/HD issues. Sometimes having a face reading and hearing the truth about what is really going on in your life is life transforming.
I use face reading also to look at compatibility and to know what kind of issues will be a source of tension in a relationship and which will work well. Often, knowing what to expect and getting a better understanding of how your partner of family member thinks helps partners deal with difficult issues in a peaceful, even fun way.
The Spectrum and Addictions
Recovery Coaching with Chana
I have found Addictions to be common in individuals on the Spectrum.
I value your perspective because you are the only person I know with such an extensive background in recovery, healing, AND coaching. Our conversation helped me place my concerns about diverse approaches to recovery in better perspective. And special thanks for coaching me into giving my own self more credit for my own recovery.
~ Recovery Coach
Many of my clients are dealing with addictions, obsessions and other recovery issues as a co-condition of AD/HD,
Aspergers and PDD-NOS.
I have found addictions to be a prevalent problem and a great challenge to many of my Asperger and PDD-NOS clients. I have searched and not found this in the published literature on ASD.
It is hinted at in the work of Simon Barron Cohen who had found that people who have Asperger characteristics have a high level of testosterone feotally He followed them through the years and that high testosterone level is sustained. He calls it a "male brain."
As an energy medicine practitioner, it is clear to me that a high testosterone level carries with it a strong tendency to have a challenge with a person's strong libido.
I have worked with many people on the spectrum who struggle with these feelings and with the challenge of controlling their own behavior.
I am trained as a recovery coach at Crossroads Recovery Coach Training as well as the many years I spent in 12-Step programs. I am experienced as a person who has overcome several additions and I am in recovery for more than 30 years.
I serve as the Board Secretary of Recovery Coach International.
Being free of addiction was once just a dream for me. I never thought I would achieve it in my lifetime. Today I am free of all addictions. I have developed an understanding of addiction and strategies to alleviate them. I live in gratitude one day at a time.
I have also found that Hormone balance through Eden Energy Medicine has been very effective in balancing the testosterone level so that it is no longer an issue. See page on energy medicine. Also effective in this area is Interactive Guided Imagery™ IGI (see below)
